A stopped up sink is often caused build-up of  hair, toothpaste and pieces of soap. If the sink fills up with water and drains very slowly, the most likely culprit could be the pop-up stopper. Sometimes it loads up with debris. If this is the case, a simple solution is available.

Tools & Materials

  • Pliers
  • Small Bottlebrush

STEPS

  1. Raise the stopper to the full upright position.
  2. Unscrew the nut that holds the pivot rod to the sink drain.
  3. Pull out pivot rod to release the stopper.
  4. Remove the stopper and proceed to clean debris from stopper.
  5. Re-install stopper, pivot rod and nut.
